Wallowa Lake
This was a vacation to spend time with my best friend’s family. We all rented a large cabin at Wallowa Lake for a week of fun and memories. Her oldest brother Rob, his wife Tawnie, and children Olivia and Blake came all the way from Elko, Nevada. They brought their platoon boat. Her brother Ken and his son Kennedy came with Bill and Roz, her dad and step mom. My bestie, Teekee, her daughter Coryn, and boyfriend Steve caravaned with Bill and Roz. My two children, Dakota and Keele, along with my husband Fred and I, pilled more than we needed in the car and off we went on a new adventure.
Wallowa Lake is located in the Eagle Cap, just one mile from Joseph, Oregon. This area is absolutely beautiful! There is hiking, fishing, horseback riding, swimming, mini-golf, go-carts, water bumper cars, restaurants, shopping, and a tramway that has an 8,256-foot gondola ride to the top of Mt. Howard.
Our cabin was large and allowed each family their own space while giving us the ability to cook and dine together. There was something for everyone and the wildlife and scenery was spectacular. We had deer and elk right in our yard! We even had deer interrupt our mini-golf session, but it was great!
We did many things together. We went out on the boat swimming and fishing. We rented smaller boats and fished. The kids rented a two person bike and peddled around. Coryn, Keele, and I went horseback riding. Mini golf, water bumper cars, and go carting was full of laughs and good natured rivalry. We played card games in the evening and just sat and talked. Cell service was very limited and gave us time to relax. This was my favorite vacation, when we go back I want to ride the tram up and have lunch on Mt. Howard.
